Dear Friends,
This summer, our Gesher campers (rising 4th and 5th graders) are living out Camp Kef’s core values, Kindness, Community, Curiosity, and Spirit, through a new initiative: Gesher Mensches, a hands-on community service program designed to nurture leadership skills, and a sense of community responsibility in our campers.
Their very first project is one that hits close to home, quite literally. We’re proud to share that Gesher campers are partnering with Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Philadelphia, a remarkable program that shares our Kaiserman JCC campus over the summer and serves children with cancer and their siblings. Sunrise provides these children with a full summer of fun and friendship completely free of charge, offering joy and normalcy during unimaginably hard times.
To support these campers and the larger mission of Sunrise, our Gesher Mensches are creating care bags filled with comforting and engaging items that will be delivered directly to children in hospitals. The goal is not just to provide a moment of happiness, but to help our campers understand the power of small acts of kindness and what it truly means to be a mensch, someone who shows up for others with compassion, humility, and heart.
We’d love for our community to join in. If you’d like to contribute, we’re collecting donations through this Amazon Wish List. Items will be shipped straight to camp and assembled by our Gesher campers as part of their ongoing effort to make a difference.
This is just the beginning, we look forward to sharing more service projects that our community can get involved with throughout the summer!
Shabbat Shalom,
Katie
