Dear Friends,
As the Jewish holiday of Shavuot approaches next week, we’re thinking about the traditions that bring this holiday to life: community, celebration, and the joy of being together. While Shavuot has deep roots in agriculture and the giving of the Torah, it’s also a holiday that invites us to gather, create, and celebrate the season in meaningful ways.
This year, we’re bringing those traditions to life right here at the JCC.
In our preschool, our youngest learners have been celebrating Shavuot through hands-on experiences that explore the themes of harvest and growth, enjoying water play, creating festive crafts, and of course, tasting delicious dairy treats. It’s been a joyful way for them to connect to the holiday through play, creativity, and community.
And now, we’re excited to extend that celebration to all of our families!
Join us this Sunday, May 17 from 5-7 PM for a special family event: Shavuot in the Kibbutz. Inspired by the communal farming communities of Israel, this program brings together the spirit of Shavuot with an evening full of hands-on fun and connection.
Enjoy a pizza dinner and Israeli cheesecake making, explore kibbutz-inspired crafts and activities, cool off with Shavuot water games, and spend time together as a community. It’s a chance to celebrate the holiday in a way that is active, joyful, and rooted in togetherness.
Wishing you a happy Shavuot, filled with sweetness, connection, and meaningful moments.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Moriah SimonHazani
