MLK Day at the J

|

Dear Friends,

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite you to join us for a weekend of music, service, reflection, and community, honoring Dr. King’s legacy in meaningful and inspiring ways.

We begin the weekend on Sunday, January 18, at 3pm with our MLK Klezmer Jam, a joyful and moving gathering for all ages. World-renowned musician Dan Blacksberg will lead the Philly KlezJam, sharing the healing power of music. Whether you come to play, sing, dance, or simply listen, there is a place for you – no instrument is required.

On Monday, January 19, we invite the community to take part in our MLK Day of Service at the J, with opportunities throughout the day for all ages. All activities are free with a donation of two non-perishable food items, and pre-registration is requested. Families with preschool-age children can join us for Kids Gym, featuring hands-on good deed stations and a special yoga class with Miss Evin. Elementary-aged children, teens, and adults are invited to participate in hands-on service projects. Adults of all ages can join us for a screening of MLK/FBI, or choose a reflective yoga class with Roots2Rise offering space to rest, move, and reflect.

Also on Monday, January 19, families looking for full-day care can sign up for our MLK Vacation Day Program for kids in grades K–5. Children will enjoy a full day that balances purpose and fun, including an age-appropriate service project inspired by Dr. King’s teachings, along with Laser Tag, gym games, sports, art projects, and creative activities.

We hope you’ll join us for one or more of these programs as we come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy! More information about each can be found below, and online!

Shabbat Shalom,

Barrie
