Hanukkah is in full swing!

|

Dear Friends,

Hanukkah is in full swing at the J, and we are excited to share a series of holiday programs that bring music, celebration, and community to our campus. This season is all about Simcha (Joy), one of our JCC values and the focus for this year, and we hope you will join us for these special moments of light, connection, and celebration.

On Tuesday, December 16 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, we will gather for Gems at the J: Hanukkah Sing Along. Enjoy live music performed by The Singulars, Ron Schaumburg, Rusty Forman, Bob Tinsman, and Paul Mamolou, as we sing our way through Hanukkah and holiday favorites. A lyric book will be provided, and tickets are $18.

On Saturday, December 20 from 5:45 to 8:30 PM, we invite you to experience the magic of Cirque du Chanukah. This all ages event features a spectacular circus show with acrobats, high flying aerial acts, trampoline performances, juggling, comedy, and more. A kosher dinner of latkes, chili, and sufganiyot is included with your ticket. Do not miss this exciting and truly unique way to celebrate the seventh night of Hanukkah.

We continue the celebration on Sunday, December 21 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM with our Hanukkah Klezmer Jam. Led by Nat Seelan and Jon Cannon from the Ezekiel’s Wheels band, this lively gathering welcomes musicians of all ages and skill levels. Sheet music will be provided. Everyone is invited to play along, dance, or simply enjoy the music as we explore traditional Klezmer tunes, Sephardic Ladino melodies, and other Jewish musical traditions. Tickets are $10, and non musicians are encouraged to join the celebration!

We close out the holiday season with Laughter and Lo Mein on Wednesday, December 24 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Join us for the longstanding Jewish tradition of movies and takeout on Christmas. Adults will enjoy a screening of Bad Shabbos, while kids and families will watch Happy Feet and take part in games, crafts, and activities. A kosher Chinese food dinner is included with ticket purchase for everyone.

Please also stop by the J each evening of Hanukkah for our community menorah lighting in the lobby led by each of our JCC departments. We will have special giveaways and Hanukkah treats. Check out our candle lighting times below.

We cannot wait to share these joyful Hanukkah moments with you.

Wishing you continued light and connection throughout the holiday.

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Moriah SimonHazani
