Diller Teen Fellows Head to Israel!

|

Dear Friends,

Below is a message from current Diller Teen Fellow, Leah Brouda. She wanted to share a message about how she is feeling about her upcoming Diller Israel Trip with the Kaiserman JCC, and about what the Diller program means to her! To learn more about the program generally, check out this link. We are so excited for their trip next week, and wish them safe travels and an amazing experience!

Hosting the Diller program here is an honor, as it embodies so much of our mission. As you will see from Leah’s message, it builds connections, enhances lives, and fosters Jewish peoplehood. Enjoy reading her message, Shabbat Shalom, and happy July 4th!

Throughout the year, whatever happened I knew that when I went to a Diller mifgash, I would be in a safe space. Within this space I have learned a lot of valuable lessons. I have learned how to be confident in myself and how to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. I now know how to listen, to myself and to others, I know how to contribute to difficult conversations, and I know how to be myself around new people.

As we prepare to leave for Israel, I feel ready to take on new challenges, as I know myself so much better than I did a year ago. I am eager to see and experience new cultures and to meet people from all around the world. I look forward to experiencing a place that will be new to me with people who I have grown to care so much about. After a year and a half of being cooped up in my house with little to no social interaction, I am grateful for Diller and that it made me interact with people again. I am so excited to travel to a new place and meet new people. If you had told me two years ago that I would be so eager to go somewhere new, to meet new people, I would have told you that sounds insane, I would have refused to go. But in the past year, I have learned so much and I feel prepared to take on new experiences.

Shabbat Shalom,
Leah Brouda, Current Diller Teen Fellow
