This dramedy is about community, traditions and values, and the power of women in the face of modern extremism. Come prepared to laugh and cry, embrace the power of community and friendship, and the ongoing struggle between genders. We support and strengthen the State of Israel as we celebrate its cultural achievements.

Over the decades, Jewish women have managed to capture audiences’ attention in different mediums with their attitude, intelligence and unique outlook of the world. In this course, we will survey the lives of some of the greatest entertainers of all time, from pioneers like Fanny Brice to modern comic forces like Sarah Silverman, Julia-Louis Dreyfus and all of the funny “gals” in-between. WARNING: Some of these laugh-inducing ladies’ shticks feature adult themes and profanity. Join us for this session that promises to be entertaining and funny!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been awarding short films since 1936, and some of these films are now considered classics. In this series, we will take a look at an Oscar-winning short film each week. Much like fiction and poetry, both use words to create images and present ideas. Short films use all of the same techniques as feature-length films, but it is an art form unto itself. Short films manage to pack a lot of punch in their limited runtimes so we will have an opportunity to discuss not just the content of these films, but their approaches to storytelling.

Join our warm Chair Yoga community! Gently strengthen your body to prevent injury, improve functional fitness, and move through day-to-day tasks with more comfort and ease. Each class includes gradual flow of movements, all done while either sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. Modifications are offered throughout each class, making it the perfect solution for individuals of all abilities!

As we approach Israel’s 76th anniversary, it is pertinent to reflect on the significance of the Jewish state while also considering some of its intrinsic challenges. We will consider this issue through the writings of three prominent Israeli poets: Nathan Alterman, Leah Goldberg, and Erez Biton. Each week, we will show how each of these writers in their own unique way reflected on the state and its complexities through the lens of Hebrew poetry.

Egypt is one of the world’s oldest countries; it is also one of the world’s top travel destinations – Egypt’s ancient temples, tombs, pyramids, and mysterious hieroglyphic writing system have enthralled visitors for millennia. We will explore the legendary hotels of Egypt, including San Stephano Hotel, the Majestic Hotel, and the Cecil Hotel, plus the use of the Nile for cruising!

This year, our community looks to Noa Tishby’s book Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth for a reassuring voice of sanity, that, through her own family story, personalizes the frustrating misinformation that plagues our connection with the Jewish Homeland. Especially in such a fraught time, the idea of our community coming together to read one excellent book is a much- needed unifying gesture. Rabbi Eric Yanoff will guide us through Tishby’s guide, in a way to re-connect with Israel at this critical time.
