An amazing summer of KEF

|

Dear Friends,

As the sun begins to set on another unforgettable summer, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared at Camp Kef. From the very first week, the spirit of togetherness and growth has guided us through a season filled with laughter, camaraderie, and memories that will last a lifetime. Below are just a few of my favorite highlights from this summer.

Fostering a Spirit of Giving Back – This summer, our campers embodied the values of compassion and service by dedicating over 1000 combined hours to meaningful service work and volunteering. Working with the Jewish Relief Agency, we reached beyond our camp’s boundaries to make a positive impact on the world around us. Our partnership with BookSmiles for our book drive has exceeded our expectations! We’re excited to report that our lobby collection boxes have been filling up, and our goal of filling an entire truck with books is well within reach. Your contributions are making a difference in the lives of children throughout New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia. Note: There is still one more week of book collections – bring by gently used books to the main Lobby!

Minors made a major impact – We expanded our majors program, giving second and third graders a taste of our camper-selected sport and special interest activities. The minors program thrived, offering diverse experiences taught by local artists and coaches.

Sizzling Success: 5000+ Hotdogs Devoured – The sizzle of the grill and the aroma of barbecue became synonymous with our Friday Camp Lunches. Campers and staff devoured over 5000 hotdogs throughout the summer, making every Friday a delicious celebration of camaraderie and yummy food.

Our new Red Cross Swim Program made a SPLASH – We’re thrilled to share that 60% of our campers successfully passed our deep water swim test! This accomplishment not only speaks to their aquatic skills but also to the supportive and encouraging environment that defines our camp. The confidence and sense of accomplishment gained from this achievement will stay with our campers for years to come.

Exploring Far and Near – Our field trips took us on an incredible journey this summer, from the nearby delights of Upper Darby Summer Stage to the excitement of Dorney Park. These outings expanded our horizons and created lasting memories that will continue to inspire us.

Creating a Camp Kef Legacy – A new chapter was written this summer with our Camp Kef Legacy program. Campers united in crafting a timeless piece of art, made from recycled caps. Each year the campers will be reminded of the summer they helped create it, fostering a lasting connection within our camp community. We are already planning the legacy project for next summer!

As we bid adieu to the warmth of summer, and enter the final week of camp, I wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Camp Kef community – our dedicated staff, enthusiastic counselors, supportive families, and of course, our exceptional campers. Your unwavering commitment and boundless energy have transformed this summer into an unforgettable experience that will live on in all of our hearts. The friendships forged and memories made will continue to brighten our days until next Summer!

Wishing you all a wonderful transition into the upcoming school year!

Shabbat Shalom,
Jordan
