Dear Friends,
Get ready for an unforgettable celebration on June 22! Join us for our third annual Shalom Summer Concert, a fantastic afternoon filled with vibrant music, meaningful community connections, and heartfelt gratitude.
Shalom Summer is for all ages, featuring live Klezmer music (often described as Yiddish or Jewish jazz), lawn games, family-friendly activities, and a delicious lineup of treats. This year, we’re excited to welcome Rio Kosher and Savvati Gourmet food trucks, plus an ice cream truck to keep you cool while you dance, play, and relax on the lawn. Beer, pretzels, and other snacks will also be available for purchase.
The afternoon kicks off with an interactive open jam session (bring your instrument and join in!) led by none other than Hankus Netsky and the Klezmer All Stars, followed by a concert you won’t want to miss.
This year’s band features an extraordinary lineup of musicians: Hankus Netsky, director of the ensemble, is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and ethnomusicologist who has worked with Itzhak Perlman and Robin Williams. He’ll be joined by Grant Smith on drums and percussion, Eden MacAdam-Somer on violin and vocals, Itay Dayan on clarinet, Susan Hoffman Watts on trumpet, Steve Beskrone on bass, and Dan Blacksberg on trombone.
We’re also incredibly proud to honor five pillars of our community who embody the Jewish value of Hachnasat Orchim, hospitality, our JCC Value of the Year:
- Adi Ozery
- Amit Starfield
- Lily Brownstein
- Marjorie Surden
- Nina Grossberg
This is a free event, and we welcome everyone to attend. If you’re able, we encourage a donation of $36, but most importantly, we don’t want cost to be a barrier. Pay what you can and join the fun. Explore sponsorship opportunities to help support this special day, we can’t wait to share it with you!
Shabbat Shalom,
Alan
