Introducing Gary Mapp, Aquatics Director!

|

Dear Friends,

I am excited to take a moment to introduce myself. I am Gary Mapp. Over the past seven years I have worked as a lifeguard, head lifeguard and now the Aquatics Director. Returning every summer is something I look forward to all year! This one was a little different because I returned in January to start planning, and I’m so excited for what we have in store this season.

Someone asked me recently, “What makes the Kaiserman JCC pool unique?” I had a few answers:

  • We care about our swimmers. Whether you’re with us for outdoor lap swim, lessons, or family fun, our team will bend over backward to ensure your experience is positive. I’ve been on the deck personally and will be there again this summer. You’re meeting me now, and I plan to know all of you by name this summer.
  • We listen. Over the off-season we held a series of discussions for swimmers and made enhancements and improvements to our operations based on your feedback. Whether it’s extended hours, or more refreshments, you’ll see changes in the pool that were asked for.
  • We’re fun. One of the Kaiserman JCC’s values is simcha, or joy. You’ll see it personified at our pool. There will be music. And BBQs. Friends meeting and dancing. Our swim instructors are hilarious. When not on duty the lifeguards tell good jokes, but only pool puns. We are not fans of dry humor!

Enjoy the holiday tomorrow, for all who are celebrating, and Shabbat Shalom. We will see you on Sunday, opening day, at the Kaiserman JCC’s pool!
