Myths, legends and lore have become a significant part of the story of the American Revolution. Often beginning with a kernel of truth, they are repeated and embellished until they have become a part of history. To explain these inaccuracies, we open the vaults of history to find the true story.
British colonists began arriving in North America in the early 17th century. This class examines the social and political landscape of 17th and 18th century America. Beginning with the formation of the colonies through the beginning of the struggle for independence, we discuss American beliefs and society bringing into sharp focus the causes of the American Revolution and the political and social actions that lead to “the shot heard round the world.”
