Spring Gems Programs

|

Dear Friends,

Spring is in full bloom at the Kaiserman JCC, and with it comes a new season of Gems at the J, our vibrant program designed for older adults and open to anyone looking to learn, explore, and connect.

We invite you to join us for our Gems at the J Spring Open House and Registration Brunch on Tuesday, April 14 from 11AM to 12:30 PM. This free, open house style event is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, enjoy a delicious brunch, and get a firsthand look at the courses, trips, and experiences ahead. Whether you are already part of the Gems community or simply curious to learn more, we would love to welcome you.

This spring’s lineup is filled with engaging excursions for a wide range of interests. Join us for a guided tour of Laurel Hill Cemetery, where you will hear stories of the innovators behind some of our favorite treats, followed by a tasting inspired by their creations. Explore Philadelphia’s Mural Mile and experience the city’s incredible public art, or enjoy an afternoon performance of the Tony Award winning musical The Outsiders at the Academy of Music.

If you are looking to learn something new, you can dive into American History with Herb Kaufman and Jules Mermelstein or the Archaeology of Petra with Dr. Steve, or reconnect with your creative side as we Zentangle on Hamsas with Mindy Shapiro or the Drawing Fundamentals with John Sappington, or even through written words in Thou Shall Journal with Ari Sasson. Plus community favorites like monthly Cholent and Conversations and weekly Israeli Dancing continue to bring people together in meaningful and joyful ways.

We are also proud to offer programs that support connection at every stage of life, including ARTZ Philly Side by Side, which provides a welcoming space for individuals living with dementia and their care partners to engage in art, music, and shared experiences.

This is just a glimpse of what is ahead. There truly is something for everyone this season.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rachel
