Dear Friends,
For over 50 years now, the Kaiserman JCC has been a place for our community to come together to experience the vibrancy of Jewish culture. Amidst our fall haggim (holidays), we are thrilled to therefore kick off our 50 year anniversary celebrations with a new, annual tradition – our Fall Festival! On October 16, we cannot wait to weave together the many threads of our beautiful tapestry of Philadelphians to recognize the holiday of Sukkot, and mark the changing in seasons in spirited style.
We are honored that upwards of 30 different partners have already committed to make this special day a reality. Expect music, delicious food, including Kosher options from Nana’s Kitchen, and a host of activities for all ages to experience. The event is completely free, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged in order to secure yourself, and your family, a wristband that will allow you to participate in all of the elements of the day. What do we have in store? Everything from raffles and prizes, to a corn maze! Face painting, to fitness demos! Art projects to a photo booth! And much more.
Importantly, there is also the opportunity to participate in the mitzvah (good deed) of the holiday. In addition to experiencing a sukkah, and the rituals of the holiday of sukkot, we are offering everyone in attendance two inspiring ways to give back. Our guiding organizational values, created as a part of our new strategic plan, are rooted in Jewish tradition and inform how we deliver our mission. These values have universal resonance in the Jewish community and beyond—we welcome everyone to join us in putting them into action. In the spirit of L’dor V’dor (connection) and Hachnasat Orchim (hospitality) we wanted to share that there are two opportunities for doing a Mitzvah (good deed) at our Fall Festival on October 16.
We are collecting children’s books for PASS4Kids
We are hosting an e-waste recycling drive with PAR Recycle Works
- Acceptable items include printers, mice, keyboards, monitors (LCD) / flat screens**, phones, laptops, speakers, motherboards, hard drives, power supply wire (chargers, connectors, etc.), AV equipment, computer batteries, gaming consoles and controllers.
** Most items are recycled for free, but some require a fee:- Old-style TV’s and CRT monitors: $35-75 (depending on size)
- Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and air purifiers: $20
- Flat Screens: TV’s: $20 | Monitors: $5
- Microwaves: $10
- Please bring cash or check made out to “PAR Recycle Works” for these items
