It will focus on Hamas’s emergence as a significant political force\, the (non)formation of Israeli policies to counter challenges from radical factions in the Gaza Strip\, and the character of the military engagements there. An overarching motif of the talk will be the prospect of Israel upholding liberal values while navigating the treacherous waters of its geopolitical challenges. \nDr. Assa Cohen is a visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University. He served as an intelligence officer in the IDF\, where he attained the rank of Captain.
