Dear Friends,

Next week the Kaiserman JCC will induct our inaugural class to the Philadelphia JCC Maccabi Hall of Fame. We are so proud to welcome not only Marc Zumoff, legendary former play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers, as our Master of Ceremonies, but those teams and individuals who epitomized the spirit of the JCC Maccabi Games: Sportsmanship, camaraderie, spirit, passion, and much more. We are inviting the entire community out to join us for the celebration. The outdoor event will feature food trucks, games, and what I anticipate to be moving testament to the first group in our hall. Learn more, and register for tickets, here.

This is a community in which many of you also have a connection to the JCC Maccabi Games. Having hosted the event twice, Philadelphia has seen first hand the impact of this program on teens, and the community. Many of you have also competed. With over 30 years of alumni at this juncture, there are hundreds of individuals who experienced the rush of competing in the world’s largest, Jewish sports event. I personally have experience here also, having helped lead the hosting of the 2009 JCC Maccabi Games at the JCC in San Francisco. It is a remarkable endeavor, and one that we are so thrilled to be resuming this summer in San Deigo in late July with our current delegation of over 60 athletes.

Again and again, when speaking about the JCC Maccabi Games, there is a simple theme: The deep bonds that form. Athletes to athletes. Coaches to athletes. Individuals connecting from places across the globe. Few programs speak to the mission of JCCs more.

Shabbat Shalom,
Alan
