We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Alan Scher, a leader in the JCC movement, as our new CEO. Alan will move here from New York City with his wife and 2 daughters to start this new adventure on July 1, 2021. Alan has a track record of success working at and leading 4 of the most innovative JCCs in the country. The board of directors and leadership team unanimously selected Alan because he brings a sense of creativity, inventiveness and momentum to our JCC! We want to thank all of them for their role in this transition, in particular, our Board Chair Cindy Smukler, for organizing the search. We also want to thank Jay Steinberg who has been serving as our Interim CEO, and who will be staying on with us through the transition.
Personally, Alan is an artist, an athlete, and an educator. That framework aligns with his chosen career and animates his work at JCCs. He believes institutions like Kaiserman are transformative spaces that inspire individuals and families to come together to catalyze passions and enhance lives. Alan was particularly attracted to Kaiserman because of the richness in community and culture that aligns with his relational approach and leadership philosophy. “I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to be the next CEO at the Kaiserman JCC,” said Scher. “I want to meet every member, stakeholder, and past participant of Kaiserman, and learn about my new professional home through their eyes.”
We are all looking forward to learning and growing together. Please help us welcome Alan, his wife, Karen, and daughters, Lillian and Rose, to our JCC family.
