Each classroom at the RJW Preschool and Kindergarten collect change for their tzedakah boxes and pick a charity to support. Just before Thanksgiving, the K1 class counted their money and made plans for their donation.
Holton Weingrad, a child with traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a courageous little boy fighting a fight no baby should have to fight. Although he lives in CA, his family is from the Philadelphia area. The family established a Facebook page to keep family, friends and well wishers up to date on his progress as well as making people aware of the struggles and challenges associated with TBIs. Groups all over the country have been organizing fundraisers and activities to bring awareness to this medical issue.
Holton's family organized Holton’s Heroes Toy Drive at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This "Holton's Heroes" sponsored toy drive will allow families at CHOP to 'shop' for gifts for their kids (for free of course!). The drive is running through Dec 15. If you would like to donate contact Lauren at HoltonsHeroes@gmail.com.
The next project for this class will be to raise enough money to adopt an animal at the Philadelphia Zoo. We have a group of philanthropists with this class. Nice work!
