Girls Basketball Team wins Gold against South Jersey

Tennis:
Lizzy Drebin and Chloe Master win Silver in girls 14U Doubles
Alex Shipon & Brian Kane win Silver in Boys 14u Doubles
Ben Klein wins Bronze in 14U Boys Singles
Alex Woods wins Bronze in 16u boys singles
Andrew Calem wins Silver in boys 16U singles

Track & Field: (The team members broke 9 Maccabi records!)
Colin Harker won  7 individual golds, 1 silver, 2 relay gold and 1 relay silver
Josh Geotz won 3 individual gold and 2 ind bronze plus 2 relay gold and 1 relay silver
Brendan Cantos won 2 individual silver and 3 realy gold and 1 relay silver
Ben Frisch won 2 relay gold and 1 relay silver
Samantha Barrett won 3 individual gold, 1 individual bronze and 3 relay golds
Philadelphia also had one player on South Jersey’s Girls Lacrosse team that won Silver

About the Games

The JCC Maccabi Games® are a week-long international sporting event for Jewish athletes’ held each year in North America. The experience includes opening ceremony, intense competitions, community service mitzvah projects, fun evening events, home hospitality and down time activities. Team Philadelphia, one of the largest delegations participating in the Games each year, is comprised of athletes from all over the Philadelphia area and its suburbs. Athletes must try out for a position on a team.

Eligibility
Tryouts are open to Jewish teens that are 13 and not yet 17 by July 31, 2014.

Location
The sport you play determines which city you will go to. See tryouts schedule for a list of which sports travel to which cities.

What’s Included
The Games fee includes all transportation/airfare, luggage fees, opening ceremony outfit, trading pins, trading t-shirts, housing, all meals, competition, all evening events. Additional fees include: Competition uniform, souvenirs, spending money.

Fees & Travel
Tryout fee is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  Games fees are: Cherry Hill, $1650 and Detroit $1950.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available based on financial need. It is our goal that no eligible athlete will be left behind due to financial hardship. Call Marti Berk for applications after the child has made the team; 610.896.7770 x125. Apps must be received by April 30, 2014. Athletes also have the opportunity to fundraise to help reduce costs.
