Meet the Trainers

Personal Trainers
of the Kaiserman JCC

If anybody can pump you up, it's gonna to be these guys!
All trainers are nationally certified by: American Council in Exercise (ACE), American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA), and National Personal Training Institute (NPTI). They are also CPR & AED certified.

Ed Holland

Ed Holland 
Ed is a certified personal trainer with 25 years of training experience. He is a certified Master Trainer with AAAI/ISMA and has a certificate in Sports Nutrition with AAAI. He is a veteran of the National Guard and has over 20 years experience as a self defense and martial arts instructor. Ed works with individuals on nutritional counseling, proper use of equipment, proper form for exercise, and developing custom fitness programs tailored to an individuals needs. Ed also works with people with disabilities and special needs and is a patient and motivating trainer.
Jernell Mapp

Janell Mapp
Janell Mapp is a graduate of Penn State Univesity. She has been an avid runner and long jumper since age 11. Jernell has worked as a health coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania Summer Program, a group fitness instructor and body worker at Thomas Jefferson University and as a certified personal trainer for Planet Fitness in the Philadelphia area. Her specialties are core and strength training, balance, agility and dynamic stretching with circuit training. She is a certified USATF coach and PIAA official. She has also worked as a coach for Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne and is currently working with Friends’ Central High School in Wynnefield as the girls track and cross country coach. Jernell, in her spare time, enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering with the elderly. Her love for fitness and nutrition continues to expand beyond her community.


Dr. Joel Clyman
Dr. Joel Clyman has been a life-long resident of the Philadelphia area. Since retiring from years as a general dentist, he has become certified as a personal trainer, yoga instructor, and health coach. He has a passion for helping others, particularly seniors, in the areas of strength training, weight management and heart health. When not at the JCC, Dr. Clyman enjoys well-balanced physical training, playing the piano, spending time with his wife, Cindy, and his favorite athlete -- his cat Mae.
